Johanna has been painting professionally
for over thirty years. She uses simplification, exaggeration
and colour to convey the images she sees before her.
She is inspired
by New Zealand land and seascapes from the environments in which
she has lived- Marlborough, Waiheke Island, Nelson, Kapiti Coast
and now Golden Bay.
Johanna paints intuitively and describes
herself as a “naïve painter” and a “colourist”.
Johanna graduated from the Dunedin School
of Fine Arts with Honours in painting. She has exhibited widely
and is represented by major galleries in New Zealand.
She has won several awards, including
the Telecom Art Award twice. Her paintings are also part
of many private collections worldwide.
