Studio Visits and Buying Artworks       Art Classes and Tuition

Art Classes and Tuition by New Zealand Artist,
Johanna Ward

In 2011 Johanna has just started a new direction in her artistic career as a teacher, she has been a successful artist for over 30 years but had not ventured into giving art classes. She was recently invited to give a weekend art course to the Mapua and Tasman Visual Art Groups and was very pleasantly surprised by the response.

The theme of Johanna's course was that “with the use of bold colour, simplification and exaggeration we will move toward abstraction”. The class responded to Johanna's relaxed tuition and created exciting and colourful works of art that were different to anything they had attempted before.

Johanna thoroughly enjoyed the weekend retreat and would welcome any enquiry from groups who would like to conduct similar courses.

Two emails from those who attended:

Hi Joey
just to say thanks again for the most brilliant weekend, it was fab thanks to you. Also thanks agin for taking on the extra artists, it was very kind and understanding of you. Husband and daughter loved the paintings as they are so different from what I usually do.
Hope to see you again when we pop over to Golden Bay, will certainly look you up.
Thanks again, you are a star
Heaps of love Pat xxxxxx

Hi Joey
What an absolutely fab weekend all of us in your great TeaPot Valley workshop enjoyed! You are such a joy, full of energy, bubbly and very clever too!! With only a few instructions, we, your students, were away painting and having a blast. Can't believe the amazing results achieved by 'us amateurs' with a completely new approach to painting that none of us had even thought of trying before!!
You must have been exhausted come Sunday evening, for by the second day, the numbers in your workshop had increased considerably.
We'll definitely be over to invade your studio in Ligar Bay early next year - probably end Feb, beginning March. Kathy, Lois, Jackie, Lyn, Jeannie and I are all very keen to pop over to Golden Bay and we'll probably rent a bach for the weekend. And I haven't forgotten - will deliver your painting, which I've dubbed 'Rocky Mountain High', at the same time.
Our group, the Tasman Visual Arts, will be holding our second annual summer exhibition at Washbourn Gardens, Richmond on 21/22 Jan, so, if you are in the vicinity that weekend, please do drop in - be super to see you.
In the meantime, take care and have a wonderful festive season, Joey. Kathy is thrilled with your painting of the wine bottles and her hubby loves it as well.
Bye for now, hugs
